Lessons

This page is under construction.

In the future, we hope to use this page to provide lesson plans for teachers to teach about thematic maps in their classrooms. We will provide ideas for how students in elementary and middle school can make their own choropleths, cartograms, dot maps, proportional symbol maps, and isoline maps. The emphasis will not be on making fancy maps for a website like the ones we use here, but on helping students understand in the simplest possible way how complex maps are constructed. There will be a lot of colored pencils involved. Probably also scissors and glue sticks. So check back soon!
